CHICAGO – Global Midwest Alliance today announced that the 2012 Brinks Innovation Competition Runner-Up HEVT has been awarded the Grand Prize at the Cleantech Open Global Forum. HEVT, a finalist at the 2012 Clean Energy Challenge, will receive $250,000 in cash and in-kind services to help achieve its potential.

"We would like to congratulate Brinks Innovation Competition finalist HEVT on winning the 2012 Cleantech Open's Grand Prize," said Gail Longmore, CEO of Global Midwest Alliance.  "We would also like to recognize SiNode, who was also a finalist at the Brinks Innovation Competition, on winning the Energy Efficiency Prize.  Competitions like these help recognize the talent and innovation available in the Midwest, as well as promote it as a destination for doing global business."

Chicago-based Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies (HEVT) provides the transportation industry with high-performance, efficient and cost-effective components and integrated systems that foster the adoption of electrified transport and yield significant savings in fuel economy without the use of rare earth metals.

SiNode took the Energy Efficiency prize at the Cleantech Open. SiNode holds the license for new technology for lithium-ion batteries that could double the talk time and speed up charging times for mobile phones.
